PINTEREST: Need To Lose 5 lbs of Water Weight? Take the Jillian Michaels Challenge With Me!

*UPDATE: As of today (02/28), I've lost 1.5 lbs (assuming this is all water weight). Hooray!

If you are anything like me, there is that ONE (1) week each month before "It" happens --- *poof* you magically gain an immediate five (5) pounds! I do a double-take on my weight scale and raise my fist in the air in frustration. I work out 3-4 times each week, drink lots of water, and eat as healthy as I possibly can --- all that hard work and I gained five (5) pounds?! I was telling my Personal Trainer friend about my situation, and she said one of the major causes is all the water weight and bloat that many women have to deal with right before (and/or during) their cycle

I was exploring the creative world of Pinterest and stumbled across this life changing recipe on how to get rid of 5 lbs. of bloat that Jillian Michaels created and I am motivated to try it! It sounds very simple and effective, because it contains Dandelion Root (which is said to be a major factor in flushing out excess water weight). I am going to try this out starting TODAY (02/25/2012) and will update this blog post throughout the seven (7) days to let you read all about my adventures and results!

Here's the Jillian Michaels Recipe: How To Lose 5 lbs. of Bloat:
* Get sixty (60)-ounces of distilled or pure water
* Add one (1) Tablespoon (Tbsp) of SUGAR-FREE Cranberry Juice
* Add one (1) Dandelion Root Tea Bag (You can find these at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's or any of the the health food stores, if neither of these are nearby)
* Add two (2) Tablespoons (Tbsp) of Lemon Juice

Directions: You must drink the sixty (60)-ounces each and every day for seven (7) days.

*** This recipe works because it helps flush out excess water weight you have been carrying around in your body and you could lose more than five (5) pounds in seven (7) days (depending on how much excess water weight you are carrying around).

Create Custom Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Heart Pieces! Great activity for kids and adults!

Here's a great Do-It-Yourself (DIY) craft I learned from my clever 10-year old daughter! We created these crafts as a way to raise money for our church's youth trip to Rome in August of 2013! They sold like hotcakes and anywhere from $3-$5 each (depending on customization and creativity). This is a great activity you could do with your child and due to oven usage - requires adult supervision. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
2-Cups of All Purpose Flour
1-Cup of Salt
1-Cup of Warm Tap Water
Plastic or Metal Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter (We used old heart shaped candy containers)

Preparation:
Step-One: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Step-Two: Combine the sale and flour in a large bowl
Step-Three: Add water slowly into the mix while stirring
Step-Four: Continue stirring the mixture until it forms a doughy consistency
Step-Five: Knead dough for about 5-7 minutes
Step-Six: Flatten dough about 1-inch think on floured wooden cutting board
Step-Seven: Press cookie cutter firmly into dough and place shapes to the side on flat and dry surface
Step-Eight: Repeat until all the dough is used (makes approximately 12 pieces)

Baking:
When shapes are complete, place each piece onto an aluminum cookie sheet approximately 2" inches apart in 350 degrees and bake for 20-minutes. *Be sure the pieces are not too thick - otherwise it will not cook evenly. Once each piece is a golden brown it is ready! Remove and let cool for 5-minutes. Place immediately in refrigerator for 1-2 hours to harden (be sure to keep them nice and flat).

Decorating:
Acrylic Paint
Glitter
Beads
Tacky Glue
Craft Glue
Markers
*The great part about these pieces are their flexibility. Decorate as you wish, just be sure to cover the area with newspapers to prevent stains. Enjoy!

Pinterest - What a stress reliever!

There's a ton of ideas floating around in my head --- from fashion to travel, I just want it out! The making of the online bulletin board was the most brilliant concept EVER! I've seen blogs plan a wedding, redecorate their home, and even create some unique Do-It-Yourself crafts thanks to the pins on Pinterest. I'd love to exchange ideas with all of you wonderful readers! You know what they say about great minds --- they think alike! And if you are all on my blog reading my deals, freebies, coupons, and ways to balance it all while saving money, then we obviously have many things in common. Follow me on Pinterest and I'd love to follow you too! Let's create a deal-saving community where we can all collaborate the best ways to balance "life". Each week I will create a Pinterest article about what great idea(s) I have learned and implemented. We'd love to see what you've gotten out of it as well!
