Last year 212 million people came out to shop on Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005. The average shopper spent about $365. This means that over $77 billion dollars was spent the day after Thanksgiving last year. That’s a lot of money, but it was spent on some great deals! While there are sales almost everywhere and on almost everything, we have picked our favorite deals for college students. As more stores begin posting their Black Friday deals we will be updating this page so make sure and check back! If you find any great Black Friday deals before we do let us know in the comments below and we will add it to our list!
- Plan Ahead: Make a plan of what you want to purchase and where you want to purchase it. Make separate lists for each store and know how much each item should cost. This will help take some of the hard work out of a very busy day. If you have time, do a “pre-shop” and note where items are placed in the store; try to get in and get out.
- Organize Your Time: Know when stores are opening and plan accordingly. If you want the best deals, try to get to each store as they open. As an extra incentive, a lot of stores are giving away free gifts to the first 200-500 people that make it into the store.
- Shop With a Team: If you’re friends with some die hard shopaholics, why not make a team of shoppers? Decide who will go to each store and and make a list of what they should buy. With some friends, you can tackle 4-5 stores before lunch time!
- Be Safe: Every year, there are horror stories about someone getting trampled as a store opens. Try to judge the crowd and recognize when things are starting to get out of hand. There is no deal worth losing your life or getting injured over. This experience should be fun, not painful.
