Situated at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Bay Area Discovery Museum fascinates pint-sized visitors with its 7.5-acre indoor and outdoor exhibits. The educational funhouse invigorates youthful spirits with hands-on activities, expert-guided workshops (for an additional fee), and multicultural programs. The outdoor Imagination Playground inspires architectural wonders with giant foam blocks, fabric, and slides. Gleeful guests can captivate their inner van Gogh at one of the art studios or rekindle memories of top-secret submarine-reconnaissance missions at the indoor Wave Workshop.
Museum-goers can then head to the 2.5-acre outdoor-exploration arena, Lookout Cove, to commandeer a fishing boat, hike along the lookout trail to catch vistas of the bay, and hunt for artifacts and forgotten pieces of candy inside a shipwrecked vessel’s hull.
